Rex
Ah Rex, the "King of Carnival." The last real parade to roll for the Carnival season, the King of Rex declares Fat Tuesday a public holiday for the city. Rex is the old guard of Carnival in New Orleans. Rex represents the traditions of New Orleans high society and is the embodiment of the traditions of Mardi Gras. Rex has amazing balls, and floats, and invitations, and pomp, and by the time Rex rolls, I've had just about enough Mardi Gras for one season. If you make it to see Rex, bright eyed and ready for a day of "frivolous revelry," well, you weren't putting in a real effort over the course of the preceding weekend.
